We help older adults to lead creative, meaningful and independent lives.

  Our Services are available free of charge to anyone age 55 or older who resides in our local community; there are no income-level requirements. We provide a spectrum of services, from helping you to make sense of health and tax documents to providing transportation to and from events. Financial contributions are appreciated but not required. Call our office and let us know your needs and we will match you with a volunteer. Our core services include:
  • Transportation. Drivers take older adults to medical and other appointments and to the Shepherd’s Center.
  • Companion Shopping. Volunteers take older adults grocery and pharmacy shopping, to the bank, hairdresser, library, or other local destinations.
  • Handy Helpers. We help with minor home repairs to help keep the house safe and livable, such as minor carpentry work, simple plumbing and electrical repairs. small painting jobs, yard work and assistance with chores.
  • Friendly Callers. Volunteers make regular contact by phone with individuals, homebound or not, who enjoy friendly conversation.
  • In-Home Visitors. Volunteers provide the home-bound with companionship and enable them to develop new friendships.
  • Record Keeping Assistance. We can provide assistance for banking, health insurance forms, balancing the checkbook, reconciling bank statements and paying monthly bills. We can also help you set up simple filing systems and meet many other needs.
  • Referrals. The Center can supply referrals when the services of a professional are needed, and help locate on-line and other resources that may be needed.
