"The vocation of every man and woman is to serve other people."
– Leo Tolstoy

...Meaning

We strive to be a source of strength, hope and love.

We endeavor to discover greater meaning and sacredness in everyday life - and share this with our fellows. Our volunteers bring the compassion and skills to help seniors celebrate life, work for a better world and experience freedom as whole persons. We believe that we learn by doing – and we also we learn by serving. In doing so, we strive to be a relevant force for each other, our community and the world and to trust the voice of our heart, soul and spirit.

In serving, we develop a profound respect for others - and for ourselves.

Ours is a profound obligation to social conscience, so we bring our values and social conscience to the arena. To the best of our ability, we understand the issues and take action predicated on these values in which we believe. Furthermore, we provide more than assistance; we provide spiritual and economic sanctuaries for those served. In reaching out we are driven by an inner voice to be:
  • Sensitive. Creating a society where all persons are welcomed and enabled to participate in the life of their community and their world.
  • Respectful. Respecting the inherent worth of every person and the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
  • Compassionate. Practicing our core principles of justice, equity and compassion for all.
  • Relevant. Opening our hearts and souls as we strive for higher meaning and spiritual connection.
  • Committed. Dedicating our lives to a continual search for truth and meaning.
  • Powerful. Increasing our personal empowerment by serving others.
  • Ethical. Supporting the democratic process within our congregations and in society.
